Yesterday, like a mysterious owl of wisdom, it appeared in our mailbox.

Harry Potter And Philosophy: If Aristotle Ran Hogwarts

Shawn Klein, a friend of mine is co-editor of the volume and also authored one of the articles.   His article begins this way:

"What is your deepest desire?"

Then he talks of the Mirror of Erised, which shows you a fantasy of your deepest desire fulfilled, and tempts you to stay in front of the mirror instead of actually working to fulfill your desires.  He asks - should you give in to the temptation?

Diana Hsieh, another friend of mine, also authored one of the articles, entitled: "Dursley Duplicity: The Morality and Psychology of Self-Deception."

She asks if self-duplicity
Facilitates felicity,
But ends by saying: No -
Truth is the way to go.
