The Bioethicist Explains "You Can Keep Your Doctor"
"The president never said you were going to have unlimited choice of any doctor in the country you want… But look, if you want to pay more for an insurance company that covers your doctor, you can do that. It’s a matter of choice. … The issue isn’t the selective networks… People are going to have a choice of whether they want to pay a certain amount for a selective network, or pay more for a broader network. They get that choice."

That's Ezekiel Emanuel, bioethicist, architect of the Affordable Care Act, trying to explain what "the president never said".

You can tell a lie by omission,
attaching a secret condition,
but it doesn't make the deceit
smell sweet.

But, he knows all that, right? Wikipedia describes him as a specialist in bioethics - medical ethics.

So this must have been one of those noble lies,
an end-justifies-the means surprise!

There was a cancer patient in California who found that the plans included one of two sets of doctors she used. All the plans.

Yes. I read about her. Terrible.

These people don't care about details like that. "All laws have winners and losers" they say. So, she's a loser.

The principle of "first, do no harm" seems far away from their considerations.

There is definitely a problem when one has to contort themselves into human pretzels to explain away the evolving words of the administration on ACA (Obamacare).

If the President's mouth moves, he is lying...
While the quality of the nation's healthcare is dying.

I hope somehow we muddle through, despite the current mess.
