Shock and Awe

Our local CBS News (don't laugh) affiliate has come out with a poll that says Bush is catching up with Kerry in Illinois. W is still 4% behind, but that's a lot closer than he was before.

I am in shock. I have been telling everyone I know, for some time, that Bush had absolutely no chance in Illinois. Illinois, formerly a swing state, has been leaning Democratic lately.

What's funny is that almost no presidential campaigning is taking place here. The Bushies wrote us off, and the Kerries took us for granted. That's okay. Our traffic is bad enough without a lot of Secret Service Motorcades snarling up our roads.

Maybe Bush's national security pitch is working. We do have some tall buildings that might look attractive to terrorists. Or maybe Kerry has not held up well in the glare of media attention.

Rhyme of the Day:

He'll have no election joy
If he loses Illinois.

That's twenty-two electoral votes.
