Manchurian Candidate

I saw it last night and liked it. It's a remake of a classic 1962 movie, but updated to have a contemporary feel. It's a political thriller with science fiction mind-control elements. Meryl Streep gives a breathtakingly scary performance as a U.S. Senator from New York.

My main complaint is that this is yet another evil-corporation movie. There is some evil done in the world by corporations, but nothing like you would think from watching movies. Businessmen get a bad rap, but actually they improve the world in amazing ways.

Rhyme of the day:

I prefer a plot
Where businessmen are not
Assigned the villain slot.

  • Drizzly AM

Wet asphalt under cloudy skies Reflecting the glowing yellow-white eyes Of cars responsibly creeping To work when they’d rather be sleeping.

  • Homophonic

A scene is something that's seen. So, based upon what they mean, I thought they were related - But they're not, and I'm feeling deflated!

  • Stargazing

Jupiter’s line of moons, Saturn’s shining ring, Luna’s dusty craters - These are spectacular things, All brought here tonight To my own wondering…
