Veteran's Day in Iraq

We're taking Fallujah very effectively, from the sound of it. But it's messy and they're hitting us too, which is what you would expect from urban combat. Here's a plausible analysis of the overall squash-the-Sunni-terrorists war effort.

I know at least one young man in Iraq.  He's a friend of my son's.  I hope he's doing well.

George Patton said:  "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."  Very true.  And yet, as Patton knew very well, in fighting a war effectively there is a need to risk the lives of some of your troops.  And if the risk is wide and deadly enough, you are going to lose some of them.</font>

I know firefighters are brave because when everyone is running out of a burning building, they are walking in.  I know our soldiers are brave because when people are shooting at them, they advance toward the enemy.  Today, we honor them.

Rhyme of the Day:

Thanks to all our vets.
You've never failed us yet.
