My brother Bill is coming into town for Christmas. He and his family are staying at my parents' house. My parents are not on broadband, but Bill is definitely a broadband kind of guy, so he wrote to me for help. He assumed I had broadband (correct) and wondered if I had wireless, because he was hoping to come over to my house and hook his laptop into my network. He was hoping I had wireless set up, but if I didn't he might even be willing to physically plug into my router. This physical plug-in possibility seemed quaint to Bill, because he's definitely a wireless kind of guy as well. (As a matter of fact, Bill is normally ahead of me on every new computer trend.)

As it happened, I had never set up wireless, but my son had left a Linksys wrt54g wireless router to me when he headed off to UCLA. So Bill's request inspired me to stay up late Tuesday night and get it working. Well, it's working. Just in time for my kids to come home for the holidays with their wireless-ready laptops!

Rhyme of the Day:

Through efforts tireless,
We're wireless.
